26-27 Auditions

Auditions will be hosted on August 19, 20, and 21 in Spaulding Recital Hall, which is in the basement of Alden Hall. Auditions are required for those looking to play with the WPI Jazz Groups for the first time or those looking to move to a different group.

Audition Requirements

• Major scales + blues scales

• Improvised solo over 12-bar blues in a key of your choice or jazz standard of your choice

• Prepared audition piece (see below)

Audition Pieces

Students will audition with a pre-selected piece. The pieces can be accessed here and they are labeled for each instrument.

• Alto, Bari, Tenor Sax: Passage

• Trumpet: Friends

• Trombone: Joe's Thing

• Guitar: Grease

• Piano: Rose

• Bass, Drums: Miles
